COLOMBO – Express Newspapers Ceylon Ltd (ENCL) marked the New Year with a simple ceremony held at its head office in Grandpass, Colombo, on Thursday (January 1), bringing together management and staff in a spirit of reflection, appreciation, and renewed purpose. The event was attended by ENCL Managing Director Kumar Nadesan, Chief Executive Officer M. Senthilnathan, editors of the Virakesari and its sister papers, along with other senior officials and employees.
In their addresses, Kumar Nadesan, M. Senthilnathan, and Virakesari editor S. Srikajan shared inspirational and encouraging messages centred on the theme ‘What got us here will not get us there’, underscoring the need for continuous growth, innovation, and adaptability as the organisation moves forward. The management commended the unwavering commitment and dedication of staff, acknowledging that the company’s progress and resilience are driven by collective effort and shared values.
The occasion also served as a platform to recognize employees who were honoured with awards for their outstanding work, professionalism, and commitment, as well as to celebrate key milestone moments in the company’s journey. Among the highlights was the achievement of 100,000 subscribers on the Virakesari digital channel, reflecting the growing trust and engagement of audiences.
The ceremony captured both pride in past achievements and confidence in the road ahead, focusing on the future with renewed energy and ambition and looking ahead to celebrating Virakesari’s 100th anniversary in 2030.
