Sri Lanka raises fuel quota for cars to 40 litres, bikes 14
COLOMBO – Sri Lanka on Sunday (28) announced a new weekly fuel quota, increasing by a third to 40 litres for cars and vans, while almost doubling the allocation for motor bikes to 14 litres, effective midnight Wednesday (31)
Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera tweeted that registered three-wheelers taxis will receive 22 litres, while other three-wheelers will receive 14 litres per week.
Buses and lorries will receive 125 litres, up from 60.
Land vehicles will get 45 litres from the current 25 litres.
Sri Lanka imposed weekly fuel quotas in mid-2022 following fuel shortages caused by the worst foreign reserve crisis in the country.
