COLOMBO –The Australian High Commission on Monday (26) announced the completion of the Australia Awards selection for the 2021, noting that 17 Sri Lanka have been selected for prestigious international Scholarships and Fellowships funded by the Australian Government.
The Australia Awards offer an opportunity for the next generation of global leaders to undertake study, research, and professional development in Australia, the Australian High Commission said in a statement, adding that 2021 intake would be mobilized in early 2022. It also noted that Australia has been offering scholarships in the region for more than 75 years.
The 2021 Awardees will undertake masters level degrees at Australia’s top universities in a range of priority areas that broadly align with Australia’s post COVID development strategy.
Eight Maldivians were also selected for the 2021 Australia Awards
The statement said the Australian High Commission together with Australia Awards Sri Lanka and Maldives will hold a series of pre-departure briefings for the successful awardees to give them the best start for their study period in Australia.
Australian High Commissioner David Holly will also host two farewell events for Sri Lanka and Maldives either at the end of this year or beginning of 2022 to congratulate the successful Australia Award recipients.
