COLOMBO – The Sri Lanka Association of Printers (SLAP) successfully concluded its 64th Annual General Meeting at The Kingsbury Hotel on June 28, 2024, re-electing Anil Kariyawasam as the president for the second consecutive year.
Reflecting on the profound responsibilities of his role, Kariyawasam expressed deep respect for the distinguished legacy of past leaders and committed himself to building upon their achievements, leveraging their invaluable experiences, and upholding the esteemed standards of SLAP. Emphasizing the importance of unified leadership and dedication within the Executive Committee, he called for unity and active participation in all association activities, dedicating time and efforts to the betterment of SLAP and the printing industry in Sri Lanka.
General Secretary Murugesu Senthilnathan highlighted SLAP’s unwavering support and assistance to its members, especially during challenging times. By engaging in continuous dialogue with relevant authorities and through collective efforts, SLAP managed to mitigate obstacles and minimize their impact on the industry, he said, noting that despite the challenges, SLAP had remained actively engaged with ongoing projects and activities.
Senthilnathan extended sincere gratitude to all sponsors who generously supported the Association’s endeavours throughout the year stating that the unwavering commitment and financial contributions of the sponsors have been indispensable in sustaining the Association and advancing efforts to promote growth and development within the printing industry in Sri Lanka.
Treasurer Udaya Hettiarachchi reported a tremendously successful year, marked by numerous events and training sessions. Noting that the SLAP had actively supported the industry and collaborated closely with government institutions to advance the sector, he said FY 2023/24 has been a successful year for SLAP enabling it to successfully complete several fund-raising activities during this period.
He said the Sri Lanka Print 2023 and National Print Award 2023 had been the key highlights of this year making a significant profit for the Association. The Paduru Party 2023, Printers Seminar conducted in Jaffna/Kurunegala and Printers Sixes 2024 events were also successful and generated profits for the Association during the year 2023/24, he added.
The 64th Annual General Meeting highlighted SLAP’s commitment to its members and the industry, showcasing a year of significant achievements and ongoing dedication to progress and excellence in the printing industry of Sri Lanka.
