BATTICALOA – A video of a Grey Langur, trying to wake up a dead man who had cared for it in Sri Lanka has emerged and is going viral on social media. The monkey sat by the body of the man for several minutes and tried to wake him.
56-year-old Peethambaram Rajan, a resident of Batticoloa, died on October 17. As his body was placed for relatives and friends to pay their final respects, a Grey Langur came over and sat next to Peethambaram’s body.
The relatives, who were shocked and surprised, were informed that Peethambaram had been feeding the animal for a while and they had become good friends.
The Langur refused to leave the body’s side for several minutes while intermittently checking if Peethambaram was breathing or not.
Family members and relatives were moved by the love the wild animal had for him.
