Four Sri Lankans injured while filming missile strike in Israel
COLOMBO – Four Sri Lankan nationals have been hospitalized after sustaining injuries while attempting to film an Iranian missile strike in Dimona, Israel, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Israel confirmed.
According to the Embassy, the individuals were in a public area at the time of the attack and had not moved to a designated shelter despite warning sirens issued ahead of the strike. Footage believed to have been recorded by the group has since circulated on social media.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, told local media thata the four sustained injuries from shattered glass caused by the blast impact on nearby buildings, with fragments striking their heads and other parts of their bodies. All have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
He noted that remaining outdoors during such incidents constitutes a violation of safety directives issued by Israeli authorities.
The Ambassador reiterated that air raid sirens, typically sounded several minutes before a missile attack, are a critical warning system, and urged all Sri Lankan nationals in Israel to immediately seek shelter in secure locations when alerted.
