Purasinghe said he system will soon be introduced in the Northern Province, with plans to expand GovPay to all provinces by the end of the year.
He also noted that the second phase of the program will include the introduction of a demerit points system. Discussions are underway with the Department of Posts and the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) to integrate their services into the platform.
According to Purasinghe, the Western Province has recorded the highest collection of fines through GovPay so far, with nearly Rs 30 million collected from approximately 20,000 traffic violations.
Since its launch in February, GovPay has been adopted by 170 government institutions, facilitating payments exceeding Rs 400 million to various state agencies.
