COLOMBO – Sri Lanka has de-listed six international Tamil diaspora organizations and 316 individuals, including the influential UK-based Global Tamil Forum (GTF) and its spokesman Suren Surendiran.
Other groups delisted are the Australian Tamil Congress (ATC), World Tamil Coordinating Committee (WTCC), Tamil Eelam Peoples Assembly(TEPA), Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) and the British Tamil Forum (BTF)
The de-listing was announced through an amendment to the List of Designated Persons under Regulation 4(7) of the United Nations Regulations No. 1 of 2012.
According to the amendment dated July 28, 2022 and signed by Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne, fifteen entities including the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, World Tamil Movement, Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam, World Tamil Relief Fund, National Thowheed Jama’ath and Save the Pearl Society, and 316 individuals remain in the new schedule.
