Sumanthiran say no conflict with Mavai
M. A. Sumanthiran, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) spokesman and Jaffna district parliamentarian, dismissed reports of discord between him and the Leader of the Federal Party (Tamil Arasu Kachchi), S. Mavai Senathirajah, admitting both of them participated in a discussion, but there was no question of reconciliation, as they didn’t have any differences to reconcile. He was responding to questions about the discussion in Jaffna arranged by team of leading medical doctors, supposedly to reconcile him and Senathirajah.
Sumanthiran said some doctors from Jaffna had wanted to discuss the future of the party and had invited him and Senathirajah to the meeting, and both of them had participated in the discussion. He also said the doctors had posed many questions and both he and Senathirajah had clarified their positions. They had also listened to the many suggestions made by the medical professionals.
Separately, Senathirajah told Virakesari the Federal Party would certainly defeat the internal and external conspiracies to weaken the party and will re-emerge as the party with the support of the Tamil people.

Jeevan pledges better housing for plantation workers
Newly appointed State Minister of Housing and Social Infrastructure Facilities, Jeevan Thondaman, assuming duties at his ministry on Friday (14), pledged to provided better housing facilities for the plantation workers, saying he would seek to change the manner in which house are constructed at present and provide separate house for extended families compelled to live in one house. He said he would be hold discussions with the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo, in this regard soon.

Mano says Sajith is not Ranil
Mano Ganeshan, Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance and Colombo district parliamentarian, accused the government of trying to portray Sajith Premadasa, who is the only Sinhala leader embracing all communities, as another Ranil Wickremesinghe, and vowed his alliance would not allow the conspiracy to depict Premadasa as a ‘weak politician’ to succeed.
Issuing a statement, he also noted that obtaining a slot in the National List was not the ultimate goal of the party, and their inability to get one was not a weakness.
