COLOMBO – Sri Lanka continues to monitor the developments in Afghanistan and remains concerned about the situation, including its humanitarian aspect, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday (30), noting that 66 Sri Lankans have been evacuated as of Monday, and 21 have opted to remain in Afghanistan for the time being.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said seven more Sri Lankans remain to be evacuated and assured that the government has been facilitating, with the assistance of its international partners, the evacuation of all Sri Lanka citizens from Afghanistan.
The government also expressed hope that all those who possess travel authorization from other countries will be allowed to proceed in a safe and orderly manner to the points of departure and travel out of Afghanistan.
