US Ambassador-designate Eric Meyer arrives in Sri Lanka
COLOMBO – US Ambassador-designate to Sri Lanka Eric Meyer arrived in Colombo on Saturday (22) to assume his duties as the 29th US Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Meyer said he was honoured to represent the United States in Sri Lanka and looked forward to further strengthening ties between the two countries.
“I look forward to building on the strong foundation between our two democracies to advance a US-Sri Lanka partnership that creates new opportunities for American businesses, furthers our shared security interests, and delivers greater prosperity for both Americans and Sri Lankans,” he said.
Before his appointment to Sri Lanka, Meyer served as Chargé d’Affaires at the US Mission to Norway.
He previously served as Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the US Department of State.
