COLOMBO – Sri Lanka and Russia have held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral, regional and international issues during the 11th round of inter-ministerial foreign affairs (MFA) consultations held in Colombo, officials said.
The consultations brought together Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko and Sri Lanka’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Aruni Ranaraja, with both sides reviewing current cooperation and avenues for strengthening ties.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining political dialogue, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation across multiple sectors, and enhancing coordination at international platforms.
During his visit, Rudenko also met Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath, where discussions focused on the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for engagement at various levels.
In addition, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister held a separate meeting with members of the expert community at the Pathfinder Foundation think tank, exchanging views on pressing global developments and key international issues.
The consultations mark the latest step in ongoing diplomatic engagement between Colombo and Moscow.
