Vietnam donates medical supplies to Sri Lanka
HANOI – The Government of Vietnam last week donated medical supplies worth US$ 30,000 (over Rs 5 million) to Sri Lanka, in support of the country’s fight against the novel coronavirus.
The supplies were symbolically handed over to Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Prasanna Gamage, by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Quoc Dung, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on Friday (14).
Quoc Dung recalled the longstanding friendship between the two countries and the mutual assistance extended during times of both hardship and prosperity. He also noted adversities such as the COVID-19 pandemics have compelled and necessitated the world to re-examine the importance of international cooperation.
Ambassador Gamage, while conveying the sincere appreciation and gratitude of the Government of Sri Lanka towards the Government of Vietnam on its generous donation, reaffirmed the continuity of Sri Lanka’s cooperation with Vietnam and also commended the excellent record of Viet Nam in combating COVID – 19, as well its munificence in donating medical supplies to numerous other countries in need.
