COLOMBO – Selection tests for the Allama Iqbal Scholarship offered under the Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Program for Sri Lanka students were held by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in several exam centres across the island from May 29 to June 4.
Thousands of students who had applied for the scholarship sat for the exam in centres located in Puttalam, Batticaloa, Kandy, Matara and Colombo.
The scholarship provides an opportunity for 1000 Sri Lankan students to visit Pakistan and pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs in Engineering Science, Basic and Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences.
A statement from the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo said it was encouraging to see students from various ethnic groups and social status vying for the scholarship sitting for the exams.
It said the result will be announced in August and the scholarships will be awarded to successful candidates by the Chairman of Education Commission of Pakistan.
The new study sessions will commence in October-2023, depending on subjects and universities.
