COLOMBO – A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will visit Sri Lanka this week and also meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, a top official said.
The IMF team is making a courtesy call at this time, Anil Jayantha, the head of the Economic Council of the President’s National People’s Power party said.
President Dissanayake in his inaugural national address said Sri Lanka expected to begin discussions with the IMF as well as creditors as soon as possible.
The NPP has said they would seek to revise sections of the program.
President Dissanayake was elected in September when a review of the IMF program was due on the original schedule.
