COLOMBO – Sri Lanka recorded a notable rise in registrations of high-end luxury vehicles in October 2025, according to an analysis of Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) data by Colombo-based brokerage JB Securities.
Despite broader economic pressures, several brand-new and used premium models entered the local market last month. The data shows that two Porsche Caymans, one Porsche Carrera, one Macan, four Bentleys, and a Lamborghini Urus were registered in October.
Luxury cars typically carry significant import taxes, and petrol-powered models continue to generate additional government revenue through monthly fuel taxes and levies.
A total of 28 brand new Mercedes-Benz vehicles were registered, including GLB – 9 units, C-Class – 3 units, E-Class – 4 units and S-Class – 2 units
In addition, 54 used Mercedes-Benz vehicles entered the market, featuring C-Class – 18 units, E-Class – 13 units, S-Class – 1 unit and GLB – 12 units
Other premium brands, which also saw steady registrations, include 37 Audi vehicles, including 18 A3s, 15 Lexus units (7 LX models and 5 LBX models), 17 BMW units, consisting of 2 X7s, 1 X5, 4 X1s, and 5 models from the 2 Series
The registrations indicate that despite high taxes and import costs, Sri Lanka’s luxury vehicle market continues to attract buyers with significant purchasing power.
