President Dissanayake leaves on four-day state visit to China
COLOMBO – President Anura Kumara Dissanayake left Sri Lanka on Monday (13) night on a four-day state visit to the People’s Republic of China, undertaken at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
During the visit, which will last through January 17, President Dissanayake is scheduled to engage in high-level discussions with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other senior Chinese officials, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation between the two nations, according to a statement from the Presidential Media Division (PMD)
The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake and the Director General of Government Information, H.S.K.J. Bandara.
Before his departure, President Dissanayake appointed five acting ministers to the key ministries. These include Deputy Ministers Eranga Weeraratne, Aruna Jayasekara, Dr Anil Jayantha Fernando, Arun Hemachandra, and Dr Prasanna Kumara Gunasena.
