Sri Lanka’s top energy expert Tilak Siyambalapitiya appointed CEB chairman
COLOMBO – Dr Tilak Siyambalapitiya, one of Sri Lanka’s top energy experts, has been appointed as chairman of the state-owned Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) with immediate effect, under the government of newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Siyambalapitiya carries 40 years of experience in the energy sector of Sri Lanka, in South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and East Africa, local media reported.
A Chartered Engineer and a Past President of the Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association, Siyambalapitiya has a PhD from the University of Cambridge and has worked in the CEB for a decade in the past and in Saudi Arabia, on power sector planning and policy.
He has also worked as an international energy consultant, in Asia and Africa, and in government committees to establish the pricing policy for renewable energy (2006), net metering (2008) and national energy policy (2019).
