1954 – Marilyn Monroe's iconic skirt scene during filming for The Seven Year Itch is shot
Marilyn Monroe, the American actress, model, and singer, famous for playing comedic ‘blonde bombshell’ characters, who went on to became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s and was emblematic of the era’s sexual revolution, wore the white dress in one of the best-known scenes in the 1955 film ‘The Seven Year Itch. The dress is regarded as an icon of film history and the image of Monroe in the white dress standing above a subway grating blowing the dress up has been described as one of the iconic images of the 20th century.
